Kate Sutherland, a solicitor specialising in personal injury and medical negligence at Gamlins Law, was named a Business Adviser Of The Year finalist at this year’s Arts & Business Cymru Awards.
The role of A&B Cymru is to promote mutually beneficial partnerships between businesses and the arts across Wales. Kate, along with a number of solicitors at Gamlins Law, volunteer their time and expertise to provide legal and business support for various arts projects taking part in the scheme across North Wales.
Kate has been recognised for working with Llandudno Youth Music Theatre. She provides legal support regarding key issues to safeguard the welfare of the young participants, including child protection issues. She has also been instrumental in raising the profile of the organisation by providing practical marketing support and promoting brand awareness throughout the community. The judging panel was particularly impressed by the extent of her personal investment, especially the considerable amount of time she devotes to the cause.
A record number of high quality nominations were received from across Wales and twenty-five advisers were nominated within the Business Adviser Of The Year category. Kate was successfully selected as one of four finalists. On learning of her achievement, Kate said, “I am delighted to have been nominated and shortlisted as a finalist of this prestigious award. Llandudno Youth Music Theatre is a fantastic organisation run by volunteers for the benefit of young people. It is a privilege to work with them and I’m pleased Gamlins Law gives me the opportunity to do so.”
Gamlins Law has been a member of Arts & Business Cymru since 2010. The firm’s solicitors act as mentors for various arts initiatives and organisations located across North Wales that operate within the scheme. The A&B Cymru Awards were celebrated at the Wales Millennium Centre in Cardiff. Gamlins Law Partner, Ron Davison, was also nominated for the legal and business support he provides voluntarily for MOSTYN, one of the UK’s finest contemporary art galleries located in Llandudno, North Wales.
