Two North Wales solicitors are preparing to take on their toughest fundraising challenge yet as they attempt to climb Gran Paradiso, the highest mountain entirely within Italy, to raise money for Nightingale House Hospice.
Ron Davison, Managing Director of Gamlins Law, and Dafydd Roberts, the firm’s Head of Criminal Law, will begin their ascent on 7 August 2026, aiming to reach the 4,061-metre summit in challenging alpine conditions.
Unlike previous fundraising expeditions, the climb will involve travelling across snow and ice-covered terrain, using crampons, ropes and mountaineering equipment as the pair navigate glaciers and steep sections on their route to the summit.
The challenge continues a successful fundraising partnership that has already seen Ron and Dafydd climb some of the world’s most iconic mountains. In 2024, they reached the summit of Mount Kilimanjaro, Africa’s highest mountain, raising more than £3,000 for charity, before taking on Mount Toubkal in Morocco in 2025, generating further charitable support.
This year’s fundraising efforts will benefit Nightingale House Hospice, a charity that provides specialist care and support to patients and families across North Wales facing life-limiting illnesses.
Dafydd Roberts said:
“Nightingale House Hospice provides an outstanding service for local people and their loved ones. Like so many families across North Wales, we recognise the important role the hospice plays in our communities and wanted to challenge ourselves to help support its work.
Gran Paradiso will be a demanding climb, particularly given the snow and ice conditions we expect to encounter, but we are looking forward to taking on the challenge and raising as much money as possible for such a worthy cause.”
Ron Davison added:
“We’ve enjoyed some incredible adventures together over the years, but this will be our most technical climb to date. Every donation, no matter how large or small, will help Nightingale House continue to provide vital care and support for local families when they need it most.”
Nightingale House Hospice has supported communities across North Wales for more than 30 years, providing specialist palliative care, wellbeing services, counselling and family support. As an independent charity, it relies heavily on the generosity of supporters and fundraisers to maintain its services.
The challenge also reflects Gamlins Law’s long-standing commitment to supporting the communities it serves throughout North Wales.
